Hampton Councilman pleads guilty to harassment charge

HAMPTON, IOWA – The Hampton Police Department charged 36-year-old Ryan Stock of Hampton with 3rd degree harassment (708.7(4)) on May 24, 2012.

The charge was filed after an alleged incident on the same day.  Stock then plead guilty on May 25th and was given a $150 fine.

NorthIowaToday.com is also told that some Hampton residents were not happy after contacting Stock about the recent “MacGyver bomb” that some Hampton teens launched at a young child, saying he downplayed the seriousness of the situation.

In 2010, Stock was charged with violating a Hampton city code (HA/41.12) which prohibits “possible use or explode fireworks in city limits.”

Again in that case, Judge Andrea Miller accepted a negotiated guilty plea from Stock and he was fined $75.

Stock (pictured) was sworn in as a Hampton City Council member on March 13th, 2012.  He was elected in a special election to fill a ward 1 vacancy.  His term expires December 31, 2015.

when ya all get the balls to run for city council you may judge! and by the way I got 50% of the vote in a 4 man race!

Congrats, now you are a Bar Fly.

Well, he’s at it again….check out the latest Hampton Chronicle police log for Friday, June 29.

There won’t be any bigger crowd than normal. The arm-chair mayors group will have this all taken care of by then. In their minds they are running the city any how.

Nothing will happen, no one will show for the meeting and Stock will still be on council.

The meeting on the 12th should be interesting if he isn’t smart enough to bow out. For his sake and the sake of Hampton, I would hope that he’d just step aside. Too many neat things are happening in town now and this is just a distraction.

A buddy of mine from Hampton, told there is a group of people in Hampton who think they run the town, arm-chair mayors if you will. You know the kind, full of ideas but not enough guts to run on their own. Sort of like we have in Mason with that old raisin who is always complaining about Bookmeyer. Anyway from what my buddy heard, the group in Hampton is trying to get this quieted down as this council guy is one of their own and they want to keep him so he can vote how they want. Just sayin.

Ha, yeah, one guy gets a sensitive taint over something and then next thing you know they form a posse to handle it. Small town shit.

I guess he’s sorry so that’s all that matters to some people.

Sorry he did it, or sorry he got caught?

I’m sure he is sorry, but not sure which way. The city website shows these is a council meeting on June 12th at 5:30 and a bunch of people are already betting there won’t be anything said about any of this.

If this happened here in Mason City — It would be news ever hour until he resigned, then it would continue to be news. Just because it it small town, doesn’t mean it’s not newsworthy.

Some might have been intimidated since this guy is on the city council. Glad to hear the Hampton Police thought he should be held accountable for his actions and cited him. I’ve heard others say he should resign his seat on the council, but we just got him after the other councilman quit on us.

And another point is that you probably don’t want to further annoy someone who is a known psycho that carries a gun! As my old grandma Clara used to say–let sleeping dogs lie.

It was in the log. I don’t blame them for not writing about it…I’m sure they would all like to forget that he ever worked there.

Not one word of this was even mentioned in todays edition of the Hampton Chronicle. So much for them being on top of things. Oh, that’s right, Ryan used to work there.

it was best he said nothing as he knowns a law suit would not be in mr. Harvey’s best interest!

Having someone like this on city council is ridiculous! Too bad council members don’t have to pass a background check or how about a drug test! I think this dude could benefit from a long stay in a treatment facility. Now that he has lost his job, he should check in and spend some time growing up!

HUH Ryan imagine this! Boys will be Boys now wont they just like to make things go “BOOM” Isnt that what you said? Your a joke!

and your a idiot! witch is why I was elected and you well allways be a dumass…just another arm chair quaterback with no balls!

when I was 18 i made the same mistake with some of my younger friends, myself and one of my friends were the only ones over 18! the only difference was we exploded one right in front of officer Hilton as we were hiding! myself and my friend both got a defered judgment. and the best part was the county attourny defened us and the judge aucatully chuckled!

Dumbass!

Not to mention there is a pedophile in their school.

Those are not peds, it is part of Mexican culture to impregnate high school aged girls as adults. How else is she supposed to have 12 children by the age of 30.

Anonymous-what the hell kind of comment is that about Mexicans. You obviously know nothing about them and like a lot of stupid people you make racist comments with no proof what so ever. I have lived with Mexicans for over 50 years and can tell you truthfully that they are some of the better parents around. They believe in family and family values. Something you seem not to have been taught. Dumbass.

This topic isn’t even about Mexicans. It’s a white kid from Dumont that’s the pedophile. Thanks LVS!!

Where is Peter Children when you really need him? Hey Peter…….looks like there is work to be done in Hampton now too!

And you thought the Mason City, City Council was bad.

You missed his supplying alcohol to an underage person in Grundy County.

“possible use or explode fireworks in city limits.” I think the POSS. you scene actually means Possession.

What’s going on down there!?!??!?!?!?!
